Teaming up Against Cancer

Want to make a difference, and be part of one the largest endurance sports training program in the world? Then Team in Training is for you. Team in Training (TNT) is all about benefiting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. In exchange for raising money, individuals are teamed together and receive coaching, training, lodging, and airfare to TNT events across the U.S., and much more. Seventy cents of every dollar raised for events go straight to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for cancer research. Those in the Santa Barbara area have the opportunity to be a part of this amazing organization by joining the local chapter.

Santa Barbara Team in Training provides:

•Personalized training by certified coaches for 4-5 months
•Training Calendar
•Clinics on Nutrition, Injury Prevention, Gear, and More
•A personal fundraising Website and fundraising guidance from volunteer mentors
•A pre-race Inspiration Dinner and Post-Race Victory Celebration
•Race weekend accommodations, race entry, TNT jerseys/wetsuits, and travel (offerings are event specific)
•Group workouts on Saturdays at 7 a.m. (various locations in Santa Barbara and Goleta) and track workouts on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. (SB City College Track)

Not only do participants benefit themselves, they’re making a difference in the lives of those currently suffering from blood cancer as well as working toward the goal of eradicating the disease altogether.
“Team in Training is about being greater than yourself,” says TNT member and coach Erin Pearson. For Pearson, who first got involved due to someone close who had cancer, TNT is about inspiration and transformation. “The most special part is the camaraderie and feeling of connection,” she explains. “We are like family.”
