Let Nature Inspire You

It’s so easy to get caught up in the chaos of life. Too easy, in fact. When you’re busy thinking about all of the things you have to do, the bills you have to pay, that fight you had with a friend, or how you probably shouldn’t have had that extra scoop of double fudge brownie ice cream, you lose sight of what’s important in life. Give yourself a break and take a moment to appreciate the beauty of the world.

When I was younger, if I ever felt stressed out or sad, I would spend hours at night outside on a trampoline at my mom’s house gazing at the stars, trying to wrap my head around how infinitely large the universe is and how far away the stars actually are (FYI: the closest star to our solar system is about 4 light years away). The idea that those beams of light have traveled for years to penetrate the darkness of our atmosphere was beautiful and mind blowing to me. Being able to appreciate celestial beauty has always given me clarity and graciousness. The stars remind me how limited my perspective is, and how vast the world around me is. My worries just faded from my mind.

Take a moment from your frantic routine to appreciate the natural beauty of the world. Which aspects of nature do you find overwhelming and wonderful? Bask in their exquisiteness. I promise you’ll be doing your mental health and stress levels a favor. Your worries will fade from your mind, even if only temporarily.
