A Beast of a Week


No longer content to just finish a race, local Spartan competitor Michael Lewis wants to win one. And a Spartan Beast at that. SB-Fitness Magazine asked him to share his weekly training routine. Careful what you ask for.

1000 crunchesBeastoftheWeek

3000 push-ups

2 hours of Ultimate Frisbee

10 hours of Jiu-Jitsu

500 stairs (running/lunging/walking)

6,000-8,000 meters of rowing

10 miles of track work

6 miles of hill running (total ascent and descent) 2-3 x per week

“And lots of food…”

If that regimen seems out of reach, not to worry. Lewis admits, “I completed my first two Spartan Races with little to no training, and had fun doing them.”
